Auvers Series

Perhaps learning what it is to be human may involve identifying oneself with the work of another artist. Researching the struggles of another artist gives us self-knowledge. The self we discover may just be every self and universal. The content of the proposed series of paintings is the analysis and development of a series of artworks based on the positioning of the artist in an identical location but a century later. Repositioning oneself in the past brings forth questions of cultural influences and perceptions of today’s world compared to that of six generations past. Auvers sur Oise is where Vincent spent his last 70 days.
